The front brakes on all the P11s (and G85s) are the AMC brake shoes - P/N 029247 - standard 7" kit.

The G15/N15/33 series used the Norton 8" brakes, front and rear, and the front could be upgraded to TLS through either aftermarket dealers such as Norman Hyde, Norvil, or Dunstall, or through the fitment of the Commando TLS brake plate, available from the spring of '68-on.

BTW, I re-lined my front shoes with H-D Sportster rear shoe linings, about $20 delivered to my door (I live in the US). Good luck finding original shoes or linings.

I recently picked up a P11, appears from the numbers and the title to be a '68 P11A Ranger. The numbers (1259XX) appear to indicate that she hails from the third and last batch of P11A Rangers, prior to the Commandos and the Ranger 750. This bike was imported to the East Coast of the USA, and the original title states "P11 Ranger," 1968 and color of "BLU." Somewhat confusing, as I understand that there were no blue P11A Rangers.

In any event, from the photos, you can see that she is red now, and that she has been raced hard and is dressed for flat track, with various missing/incorrect bits. Regardless, I'll have her back on the road in due course. Any corrections to/thoughts on the above welcomed. See photos below.

Cheers

That's my 1969 Matchless P11, not original, i know...
Fitted with a Commando TLS, looks good, but in my opinion not better then the original P11 brake
