25 years ago , not far from where I live, a friend was making complete bikes for that money. I'm not sure how many were made, but they were exact repilcas. I paid him a visit one day when he was machining the front brake plates.

I like the way they say all original 1961, then list a ream of new parts, including the crankcase which are the part that will prove the dating!!

Must be gen, they state the engine number 1674 ?????? now, if that was the very first off the line in 1961,that means in 1959 & 1960 they only made a total of 24 7R's but in 1961 & to the end in 1962 made 226. If you asked me to guess the year of 7R engine 1674 I would say 1959

Whats excessive about that???
A new G85cs motor from abasf is costing 8000Euro
And thats no way original.....I think a new G50 motor from Austalia was also about £8000 many years ago...Also the people who race these things are not that bothered about "counting the rivets"..horifiying as it may seem to some club members

I don't think anyone said it was excessive Geoff, my point and I think some of the others was that to describe it as original, whereas a better way would be total rebuilt to original spec would be more honest, make no difference to the race people but not pretend to be what it is not!

This has been for sale for ages. I nearly bought it last year for a customer but, payment options where a problem for the seller. They accepted credit cards as a form of payment but did not want to be paid by card, wanted cash. Not a problem but they are based in france and the engine would be delivered to me in the uk via someone else. But payment had to be made before delivery would be made. I did not like this thus never purchased.

has France got some kind of favourable trading conditiond for this kind of retail enterprise? I notice quite a few expats trade from France, or is it just because we Brits like the ambience of that country? kind regards

I would agree with the comments of originalty..but with all racing engines they seem to let go doing a lot of revs and not much is left...then you get the "Bugatti syndrome"...one car gets the rear axle and the next gets the front...What though is original???....Is the bike not original if you change the tyres, plugs, etc. etc.
