Manifold for AJS model 31 year 59.

Post by Ragnar »

Some years ago I bought a bike from UK nearly as a basket case and a lot of parts was not original. I have restored the bike and it seems fairly good, but not all are as it should be. Particularly there is one case where I need some advices. On my bike the inlet manifold and the carb have a nearly horizontal fit to the cylinder head, that means: the inlet flange on the heads are nearly vertical with only a small angle forwards. That means that the centre line of the carb hit a little below the centre of the hole in the rear frame cover. Thus it is difficult to remove the carb. On pictures I have seen that the carb are more inclined and thus the centre line hit the centre of the hole.
Therefor I have a suspicion that the heads I have got are wrong. Mine heads have parts numbers 025070/71 (L/R). The numbers in the spare parts list are 025414/15. Is there someone out there that know anything about this case, and can part his know how with me?
May be what model my heads belongs to?
