Glue for badge on engine
The little M badge on the NS of the engine case fell off last night in the shed, its been secure since I have had the bike so I suppose if it was going to fall off this was the best place to do it. Anybody any idea what type of glue is used to glue it back on, obviously the engine gets quite warm so not sure if normal epoxy will work?

Re: Glue for badge on engine
You would need to use a type of glue that was available when the bike was built. Some modern glue's may attack the paint / plastic.

They were centre pop'd into place. Have a look for four indents in the cast locating ring

Re: Glue for badge on engine
Would a 59 G12 originally had a badge? My 58 G11CS has a slight scar where the mould has been filled in but no indentation. If one was fitted it must have been glued on not centre popped.

Yep four little centre pops does it, 12 , 6, 3, and 9 o'clock, staked is the correct term in engineering I think.

Quick look on the photo page for 59 G12s shows no badge fitted, so we must be barking up the wrong tree

My point I think. To fit by steaking (woof woof ) requires a rebate.

Re: Glue for badge on engine
It was fitted just below the cylinders above the chaincase, glued on. Its a little red M badge about the size of a two pence piece. Its been on the bike since I got it but fell off when setting the ignition timing last night, the engine got a bit warm as I started at a fairly retarded setting from guesswork.
I have no idea if it is supposed to be there but I don't want to lose it from melting glue while out on the road if I do refit it, its simply glued on with no recess.

Re: Glue for badge on engine
Hi
Sounds like it is one of the repro badges currently available - they're quite thick and enameled.
I'd use contact adhesive after cleaning and keying the mating surfaces.
Regards Mick
