Advice on brake items please

Post by electrajohnt »

Further guidance please - 1960 G12.
The brake levers on the end of the brake cam spindles: front and rear are the same hexagon fitting and similar “cranks” , I assume the slightly longer one goes on the front brake. This is the type that tucks itself behind the fork slider. Is my assumption correct?
Also, the front brake stay, before tightening the set screw into the brake back plate, the stay stands away from the back plate by approximately 1/2”. It will spring onto the backplate when the set screws is tightened, but is there supposed to be a spacer between the stay and backplate.

Help would be appreciated.

Hi

The levers on my G3 are totally different in design - the front is formed to clear the fork, the rear follows a more direct line.

Have a look at the illustrations in the parts lists.

There is no spacer on the front brake stay.
