Why our 650 are they always underestimated ?

Post by JEAN-NOEL »

By chance I came across the CLASSIC BRITISH MOTORCYCLE.COM website, regarding the G12 1966...In the data sheet they state : 35 BHP, 95 MPH, 6 volts ! I don't know why the majority of specialized newspapers disparage our machines and always diminish their performance. The output of '53 T6 (with SU carb), the 99, the G11/M30 was 34 BHP (and they have similar top speed : 156 kph/96 MPH according the French journal MOTO REVUE. In my opinion the 650 should have an output of 40 BHP, as it was stated for the T110, and the 650 CSR between 45 and 50 BHP because the T120 was credited with 46 BHP, and the 650SS with 52 BHP. The G12CSR was in 1961 the fastest bike ever tested by MOTO REVUE : 180 KPH/111 MPH. In 1962 the same bike with the racing kit (cams, twin carbs, open pipes), reached 190,3 KPH and was champion of France in the 750 cc Sports category two years in a row before being beaten in the 3rd year of this championship by an ATLAS. It was raced also by Charles KRAJKA in 750cc Sports Scrambler Outfit. And according to some newspapers, all of our 650 were victims of a crankshaft breakage !
