I have been offered a spare engine. It carries the number
R (line shift) G12CS / X8106
According to Don Madden, this is / was a CSR bike, hence the "R". Could anyone give me a clue as to year of build?
I believe it's a 1963, but it could be a 1964 as well.

Re: Found a spare engine
My 1962 AJS's number is X8173, so it is 67 units afterwards.

Re: Found a spare engine
Thank you so much, Rob and Roy. This is very useful to me.
Someone must have upgraded it, as it carries parts off a 1963 model. I will let you know when I get my hands at it.
Regards,
Knut
