Weeping filter tunnel PRV. Any mods?

Post by CAB »

Hello

I've just stripped my 1961 CSR to cure some oil leaks and have noticed that the PRV at the end of the tunnel weeps. Is there any mods that can be done to cure this?

Thanks

I tried putting a viton 'O' ring under the end to cure weeping and all it did was cause the high pressure produced to find its way out of the filter tunnel via the large filter nut. I even tried replacing the copper sealing washer with a fiber one that did no good at all. So I removed the 'O' ring. I have resorted to removing the felt sock of the filter and replacing it with a very fine mesh instead. I did this because I'm convinced that the oil will always take the line of least resistance and that the filter acts as much as a barrier than a filter. Many other marques do not use a felt filter and have just a fine gauze. i
