Fuel consumption
Just wondering what kind of mpg people are getting from their 650 twins I'm using an Amal monobloc carb and I'm only getting about 40 mpg I've had the bike from new so you'd think I'd know but if I did I've forgotten!

Re: Fuel consumption
It would depend on a run. Short runs in town or countryside, up hills round bends forever changing gears, Stopping and starting at junctions etc. Will only get the lowest MPG. This could rise as much as 50% on a longer run along a good road. I can see this on my car which shows MPG at any time. I believe my car average is 32 MPG but I can average 45 on a long motorway drive. About 25 average in town or country lane short runs.

Re: Fuel consumption
I only take note of the mpg on good runs and rallies when one would expect the optimum mpg anyway. I get about 60 mpg on my G12 keeping a steady 50 mph'ish.

Re: Fuel consumption
My old Model 31 turns out about 60 to 65 mpg depending on whether I am on long or short rides and of course what speed I am doing. on a 160 mile trip to Hay on Wye earlier this year I managed around 65 mpg riding between 55 and 60 mph.

Re: Fuel consumption
I read in a road test, over several 100 miles a G12CSR average was 51 MPG that was when the bike was new.
