Engine shock absorber

Post by MartinAmes »

I have a 1956 G11.
After having the engine rebuilt and coming to put it all back together,
I found that I have a later type engine sprocket without a shock absorber.
Having looked through parts lists it appears that the shock absorbner stopped being fitted after 1957.

Does anybody know the reason for the change, or any advantages/ disadvantges.

I have to make to a decision on whether to carry on with what I have got, or fit the parts that were specified for the year.

Following the change to the AMC gearbox in '57 the cush was relocated to the clutch centre

I think I have just found my own answer.

I have an AMC gearbox and clutch ( which has a shock absorber in the clutch)
rather than the listed burman type.

Anybody concur?
