If you look at your chain guard you should notice that one of the holes is square shaped, therefore the nut that goes in there has to match this. the bolt that holds the chainguard onto the swinging arm needs a shakeproof washer under the head to stop it from coming loose. you could make your own nut from a piece of round bar then filing the square on afterwards, I did.

I repeat: The nut is a special captive one that clips into the square hole & has a little play to aid alignment. It needs frequent inspection for tightness as it gets battered by the chain. Otherwise, replace the special captive nut with some locking type. Cheers, Don.

Thank guys I have a nut that looks like its had chain 'Stroke' :)

An easy way round the problem is to weld a nut on to the squared end of the chainguard bracket and to then insert a bolt with lockwasher from the bottom of the swinging arm. It worked for me.
