I would first of all get a gasket set for your carb as it will have dried out washers and will probably leak like a sieve. I would be inclined to ensure that oil is circulating properly and this can be done by pushing the bike in gear with the plugs out round and round the yard. If oil is getting back to the tank it is probably doing the business. Your bores may still be oiled but to be sure i would put a few drops in the cylinder while you are doing your 'walkabout' to ensure your rings are well lubed before 'kick off'. Worth also checking the mag pickups are clean as well as the points. Les Smith

You will not often have to adjust if all is oK ie no arcing etc. I do not have a set in front of me so hard to say exactly how adjusted. suggest you take apart and all will apparent. I would still lightly clean point faces as so long without activity means a little corrosion is likely. Adjustment is normaly made by moving the contact that is held with a small nut. Les Smith
