AJS 18S Project

Post by MORAIS »

Dear all,

I’ve just started with the restoration of my 1954’s AJS 18S, after being entirely dismantled.
Already bought new parts and reconditioned others, but new exhaust, seat and handlebar are now needed.
Could someone recommend suppliers for these items?
Tks in advance.

Handle bars and exhaust fron Armours of Bournmouth and seats from R K Leighton.

I believe there are details of both at www.heartofoakworkshop.com/ajsandmatchless

José,

At that same website is a link to the AJS&Matchless egroup which has 500+ helpful members and could be a lot of help and interest to you and it is free!

Hi Jose'

Get the handlebars from the Club, I bought handlebars from Armours for my G11 and they dented the tank on full lock because the bend was two far out. It may be that the tank is bigger than the 18S, but is it worth the risk?

Hi Alan,

Tks for your so welcome warning.
I'll sure have that in mind. So far, I am buying most of the needed spares from the Club scheme, but time will come when extra suppliers must be contacted, due to the possible lack of several items from the Club.

Cheers. [:D]

Jose,

Also try wanted advertisements on Jampot.com, which also will appear in the next edition of Jampot.
