I have a 1957 AJS Model 18cs 500 single. I suspect I might not have a matched set of crankcases. Is there a way to tell if they are matched? For example, some manufacturers stamp the cases with sequential numbers. Did AMC do anything like this? Any insights would be appreciated. Cheers, Norm Roller, Ann Arbor, Michigan USA.

The cases were normal;ly stamped internally with a 3 digit number. This should be the same on both cases, Normally the timing chest cover was matched as well carrying the same numbers to ensure the camshaft bushes were bored in line.
