modifying a G80 CS
I would like to know if any one has committed the sacriledge of coverting a G 80cs into a cafe bike. Does substituting 18" wheels and lowering the suspension result in a good handling bike or a monstrosity? I have a Gold Star that handles great, but I like the G80cs motor beter. Any thoughts would help. Thanks. Edgar.

What year? The short stroke motors can produce good horsepower with a wide power band. 19"x 4.00" rear tires are getting hard to find but a road model would handle well with 18" rear wheel.
Raise the compression to the max as the stock brakes are not up to canyon carving & you can scrub speed off by closing the throttle. Look into replacing the front stoppers with something more fade resistant.
Set up properly duplex frames are very stable but quite heavy for a 500cc single. The standard suspension works well on or off-road.
Fit the 3gal tank to allow reasonable range.
Go for it! Cheers, Don in So. Cal.
