Dynamo chain

Post by Rupert123 »

Hi everyone,
Just had the primary outer case off my 1954 AJS 18s removed dynamo ordered a few bits from the club, seeing i had removed the dynamo chain i thought i might as well replace the split link as a matter of course.
When parts came i started put it back together.
The chain looks new and was fitted by PO, i just wondered should this chain have split link or should it be endless .

Kind regards,
Martin.

You'll find the Spares List useful:

See last line, Page 19. Note 14. Endless.

Both the mag and Dynamo chains should be endless. With the Dynamo you risk clashing with the primary. If it is a new chain you could try to get rivet type link and changed yours to endless.

Thanks for the replies and the part no,s and spares list guys,
I shall make it endless if i can get a link if not i will replace the whole chain ,i did have thoughts about this when i was putting it together sometimes you can fall into trap When you copy something that is wrong.

Thanks for your help,
Martin.
