Re: New Rear Mudguard
Hi, have now got the mudguard lined up fairly well at the Jampots. Opened out the holes in the guard to take the sleeve nuts.
Also bought 2 new brackets (014501) as listed in the Spares list for 1954.
Does anybody have a picture or sketch of how these are supposed to be fitted? As above and the angle is totally opposite to the Mudguard profile and if positioned outward the hole centres are outboard of it. Whichever way they should be I think they are not for the mudguard that I have.
Skimming through the parts lists for 1956 ( as you do) I found another number for the brackets (022250 ) and the mudguard. Does anybody have picture or sketch of these brackets? I couldn't find anything in the parts list. I see AMOC spares also have this part number but don't really want to lay out another tenner just to find they don't fit either.

Hi Mick,
What year is that?
Mudgaurd doesn't look like mine or the 1956 spares pic.
But the brackets look as though they would be easier to make fit than the ones that I have
Thnks

Hi
That's a 61 G3, (bracket pt no 025108).
I think you need pt no 022250 as per the 56 Parts List

Hi Mick,
I think your right, but I'd really hoped to get a picture or a sketch of those brackets before I shell out for them.
I think the ones in your picture would be too long and push the mudguard too far back to suit the other fixing holes.

Re: New Rear Mudguard
I had a look at my 54 yesterday and the "L" brackets face outwards as in your 2nd pic, also my mudguard is wider than yours where the brackets fit, taking up almost the whole of the rear fork width, my guess is you have a new section that's been grafted in due to damage/rust and it's not the right shape/width or length, the width being critical in this case as the bracket holes don't line up, hope that helps...

Yep the angle brackets toe out, they are not made with a 90 degree bend the angle allows them to follow the mudguard radius.
