Kick starting my 18s
I stopped hurting my toes when I kicked the G80S after I got the trials boots with the internal steels and the barrel couldn't fight back. Or am I on the wrong track here?

If you pull in the clutch Janet the engine won`t turn over?
or are we talking super mega LE compression here?
Valve lifter is the little iddy bitty lever usually under the left grip And wheres YOUR avator?
I know, pulling in the clutch should disconnect the kickstart from the engine* so it shouldn't move, but however it happens, it works. Not all bikes have valve-lifters, you know.
* The starter mechanism on Nellie is on the engine side so if it stall you don't have to put it into neutral to restart, just pull in the clutch and pull the handle.

Janet, you're not supposed to talk about sensible bikes here. It makes the rest of us feel inadequate!
Cheers, Don.

Just like to add my "two bob's worth",......that there are TWO separate movements when operating the kick starter once the piston is in the required position.
The first is to GENTLY depress it untill it can be felt that the quadrant has engaging with the pinion.
The second is the long swinging kick as described previously.
If it is felt that the mechanism has "jammed", don't keep proding it with your boot to free it up,(even if it does free up, you will only be further damaging the presumably worn teeth), but engage a gear and rock the bike back a little, then go over the start procedure again.

I'm sure you can do that without my help.
