Good morning all
I'm building my first AJS which I bought in bits it's a model 18 with a 51 ridged frame 54 engine
It's been a steep learning curve but I'm getting there , thanks in no small part to the advice I've been given on this forum
The bike is never going to be original I'm just want a nice reliable bike to ride and enjoy
The bike came with a amal mono block 376/11 ,106 needle jet ,C needle, 25 pilot 260 main
Would this carb do the job or do I should i replace it with a 389 or even a mark 1
And are there any performance /set up advantages to replacement
Thank you in advance for any advice or opinions

Re: Replacement carb
If the 376 is the same bore as your cylinder head then I would give it a go the correct carb
would probably be a series 6 but why waste money if the 376 works.

Re: Replacement carb
I didn't check the bore but will today
Your right it would have been a series 6 but if I did replaced the card I'd go for 389 off the later bikes
Once it's running I'll see how it's goes with the current card and different jets etc
Cheers Tony
