Help with a frame number?

Post by Matt Durkin »

A frame has popped up available that may help with a dilemma I have for a very very slow moving project due to other commitments and circumstances.

Could I please get any help to identify the following number that has been sent to me by photograph.

The number is 50563.

Thanks in advance of any help.

Matt.

A picture of the frame would be needed for that number. If AJS or Matchless, it could be a WD frame number or a post war frame number. Even prewar. So it has to be known, are we talking Prewar AJS or Matchless, WD Matchless or postwar project. If it is an early post war project a pic would be needed to comfirm it is a post war or WD frame. Even then you may, if it turns out to be post war, like to use the club dating service, to discover the year. Also discover if the frame started life as an AJS or Matchless and which model.

Damn, so much to factor.
It's currently on eBay, the frame number isn't on the pics.
I messaged the chap to find me the number.
It's advertised as a 56 Heavy. Little more is known, the seller inherited it in a garage full of stuff.

1956 Frame would have an A prefix for the number. Give the e bay link, someone may id the frame from the picture.

Bugger!!

I need a front frame loop for 58 G80.

I've emailed AMC spares a couple of times after looking at their list online but no reply yet.

I really don't fancy a Q plate for this nightmare of a bitsa. :?
