monobloc carb

Post by Steve Harding »

Hi, I own a 1952 18s with a later monobloc carb fitted. Looking at buying a new carb from club spares, which is the correct part?

The 1957 parts list says it should be a 389/1, should I be looking at the 1 5/32?

Will he carb be correctly jetted?

Thanks in advance

Hi

It depends on what you mean by 'correct' carb:

If you want one to match the original get the details from the relevant spares list.

If you want one to match your existing one you will need to strip it down and relay the details to the supplier.

389 1 5/32 is what spares sent me for my G80s '54. I would suggest ordering a 270MJ at the same time. It will come with a 260MJ but that seems a little lean for modern fuel. Is you current carb completely worn out? - all the spares are available so you could probably refurbish it.
