1948 G80 front brake shoes

Post by hatrack »

Hi
I'm putting together a '48 front hub with 7" brake. Its the type with 2 bolts through the bake plates to lugs either side of the fork slider.
Just trying to fit brakes shoes to the brake plate today and the pivoting ends are too wide to fit ont the pivot.
The shoes I have, which have the adjusting pads (so I'm sure they are 7" AMC shoes) are about 7/8" wide at the pivot,
whereas, the pivot point will only accept a shoe 3/4" wide at that point.
So are the shoes I have from the later brake?
Has anybody got a spare set of correct shoes? Club spares do not seen to list them as different fro the later ones. Help!

Hi

There was only one type of shoe from 48 to 63 for the heavyweights, is this the shoe you have: http://www.amoc-parts.com/store/comersu ... duct=22284
