1952 18s tank lining

Post by Steve Harding »

Good morning, can anyone tell me if there is a template for the gold lining on a 1952 18s?

I have been quoted £120 to have them done in gold leaf, but need to know width and spacing etc.

Is this a good price?

Thanks

I'm not sure that gold leaf would be sufficiently durable.
£120 sounds par for the course. Professional tank spraying and/or lining doesn't come cheap. A pal has just spent c.£800 having his G15CSR tank chromed, sprayed Candy Apple Red and lined. You'd have to pay a main dealer £80 to £100+ an hour for an Oik to oil your door locks and check your washer fluid at a car service..... :?

Here's how the Indian Enfield tanks are done freehand . Looks pretty simple and straightforward.....

Use club template mark outlines with knife edge egineers chalk mask up lines with fine line masking tape from car
Paint factors mask rest of tank spray your lines rmove all tape seal line with petrol resist coating I did my tank it came out ok, have look at niagras posts when he restored his bike his tank turned out like mine
