To Hylomar or not to Hylomar - That is the question

Post by spookefoote1956 »

Having got the barrel back from Weir's I'm ready to build up the engine. Do I put gasket goo on both sides of the base paper gasket or just the face in contact with the barrel?

Cheers, Chris

I usually brush on an even film to both parts.

http://www.wellseal.co.uk/
use wellseal , much better than hylomar and does not block filters
if you strip a engine built with hylomar you will find it in filters , gauze/strainers etc..
can be used on copper head gaskets , paper gaskets

Hi

Another recommendation for Welseal applied sparingly to both sides of the gasket.

If you leave it 10 or 15 minutes before assembly the Welseal thickens up a little and the gaskets don't move around so much as when first applied.
