Another bender...............

I will be making a hearth in our BBQ using a garden blower to get the coals up to temp thus getting
The bent stand leg to cherry red and allowing the straightening, will then weld a fixing on for the foot bar.

That's one thing that the new type stand wont do! It'll not bend like that, also I don't think you'll need to heat it. The original stands are cast and made of "Swiss cheese" that why they bend so easily. A long scaffold pole and sturdy vice should see you able to straighten it out.

Thanks ComboMan

maybe I should get a "new one" from Club spares ?

 NOW WAY am I paying........... Price incl. tax : £119.77

 think I may weld a gusset in to strengthen it

or I maywell knock up a new one from tubing and get to try the new TIG/PLASMA Cutter that has just been delivered ( I guess sourcing the tube maybe an issue ) :?:

will give it a bit of heat so as to help it on its way............... would rather have a straighter one than snap the leg off.....!!! :o

cheers

Hi Karol

The engineer in me is struggling to see what caused your issue - could you let me know if the leg was bent forward of backwards, (when fitted), please?

Thanks Mick

Hi Mick

The left and leg is actually bent forward which leads me to believe that the method ( as advocated on the forum )
of leaning the the bike towards you while on the left side to get the bike on and off the
Centre stand has been used.

No more bend....................

Straightend out with heat scaffold bar and a big lump hammer 👍
Oh for an anvil and a huge vice........❗️

Now to weld on a new foot attachment.

You'd be spoiled for choice at a breaker's yard. Cut your own serrations if you must or find one still with its nice rubber cover :)
I doubt that much of it will be visible when it's 'up' anyway.
If you want an AMC one try a 'Wanted' ad on this site.
