Burman GB/B52 Gearbox Identification

Post by spookefoote1956 »

Hello again. I recently ordered some "B52" bits from Draganfly which included inner and outer gaskets. Sadly they did not fit. I sent some photos and the nice man identified it as an HT box. He also sent pics back of the HT gaskets and they look correct.

However, the box is stamped GB26K53. I understand the K53 element but not the GB26. It gets weirder by the minute. A search on google for GB26 gearbox leads me to Feked who sell inner and outer gaskets for a GB26 box.

So is an HT box the same as a GB26? My brain hurts.

Hi Chris,

As Ringo said have a look here:

It looks like its from a '53 model 20, a 500cc twin so suitable for you. No idea what the guy from Draganfly means. The HT is an Ariel trials bike and has a special box. I think the Ariel boxes had a slot in the upper casting for chain adjustment so should be easy to spot??

Dave.
