Hi

If it's a brand new carb it will have been flow tested at the manufacturers - as evidenced by the smell of fuel coming from it.

Fit as is and only tear it down if it fails to perform as designed.

I Fitted my brand new 376 yesterday also from the club but did just check the pilot jet was all clear nothing else.Tested the bike today and all was fine now all ready for Poland.

Sure I recall that someone advised stripping and checking all before fitting.

Not inclined to do this, partly because of time and also because I forgot to order a spare gasket set for it.

Personally and from others experience I would strip and clean.
Personally I agree with Duncan. Having bought several new carbs I'd advise stripping and cleaning. The amount of fine swarf and grit that is left inside from the factory is less than satisfactory. I'm always surprised by just how dirty they are. 20 mins and a can of carb cleaner blasted through all orifices on the workbench is less stressful than having to do it at the side of the road in Europe! Don't be lazy Mr Banks or you may regret it.

shouldn't have expected common response.

Might stick the old Concentric in the trailer anyway, whatever I do (together with a spare SR1 and a couple of other bits - rebuilt Burman, clutch, gas soldering iron, cables, fork puller, - just kidding).

Should get the repaired resprayed fairing at the weekend plus tha straightened footrest and gear lever - I don't like doing that cold and haven't the facility for getting enough heat in.

Always a chance of the trailer falling off. I'll have the kit inside the trailer inside my very large old Karrimor rucksack and a large bag.

I'd have been totally stuffed in Holland without that rucksack.

Of course, your best wishes always welcome.

I am thinking of getting a T shirt made with "Johnny B" on it so everyone can be sure of avoiding me.
