I tried my mini adjustable but unfortunately there's not enough clearance around the nut. Needs a nice little ring spanner :(
1953 AJS 16MS, 1939 BSA 250 and a 1/3 scale Sopwith Triplane but that's another story ..... :lol:

The nut is quite thin and often found damaged, never seems too difficult to loosen. Perhaps clean up the nut a bit, find an odd smaller spanner and open it out to a good fit, little flat cycle spanner may do. Only needs a little jerk to loosen , the remove complete clean up all, use hands only to replace with just a little nip of the lock nut with a spanner while holding the screw in place. Never found this part to be a problem.
