I use Avon Speedmaster on the front and Dunlop K70 on back and I buy them mail order from Watling Tyres Tel + 44 (0)1474 321455 in the UK.
I tried the Avon speedmaster on the rear but it was hopeless in the wet it did last a long time though.
Do not know if Dunlop and Avon were around in 1941 but they have been around a long time.
