DVLA

Post by smileyinfrance »

I Have a 1956 AJS 16MS in trials trim.
The engine number is 1956 and the frame number 1949 49/18 with a swinging arm.
DVLA has it as first registered in April 2000
DVLA has the year of manufacture as 1956

I thought it should be shown as the year of manufacture as 1949 the same as the frame.
Am I right?
If so how can I get DVLA to change this?
Also, does it need tax or mot?

Sorry there are a few questions but I am new to this and once I have it registered correctly in the UK I want to take it to France. So the paperwork needs to be correct.

Someone on here will have definite information, but my 16MS was registered in 86 as 1957 manufacture, though the frame is 1956 .. the engine is a 57 model, but built in Dec 56.

I doubt that the detail is all that important .. perhaps DVLA were not so rigorous back when they were registered, but I think that as long as the numbers match the documents, it probably should be fine ..

Tax is free and MOT is not needed ..
___

Now sold ... 1956 AJS 16MS Bitsa .. HSU 414 .. rebuilt/re-registered 1987

Thank you Taid, my problem is if I take it to France as I intend to, the French do not put the engine number on there equivalent of the V5. They only put the Frame number and hence the year could be wrong

are you taking this from the V5C or the frame have a closer look to see if there is a letter A above the number 4.
