I have a Boyer Bransden electronic ignition on a BSA unit single.
This could also be used on your AJS. Both originally had Lucas points systems.
The unit I used came from a parallel twin originally, but no problem to have an extra spark on the exhaust stroke.
It does make the bike a more reliable starter.

Electronic Ignition
That's odd, points cam assemblies interchangeably between my '69 BSA and '64 AJS. Identical mounting taper.
Interested to know how the Boyer rotor is to be modified.
