If you're seeing a spark at the points it's indicative of a failed condenser, (capacitor). Should still spark at the plug though.

Thanks for the advice but why does this always seem to happen that I need spares around this time on a Friday night when I have the weekend off.
Just ordered points and condensor from the club but I doubt I'll see them before Tuesday.....
So frustrating as when I first switched everything on and gave it a kick it actually fired but as I say, just the once. I was so excited!!!

You don't need to waste a weekend by waiting til Tuesday. I assume you have coil ign so I'm pretty sure I'm correct that you can fudge any car condenser to do the job temporarily - I have done that. Motor factors and Halfords will be open tomorrow.
With a clean up (emery cloth, oilstone) if they need it the points should work until the club ones arrive.

Have you checked that the points are assembled properly so they don't short out?

A few teasing firings but not running.
Does this video show anything obvious?

It seems to be firing most of the time but doesn't carry on (sorry for stating the obvious!), don't you need to give it a smidge of throttle? I know I have to but I didn't see you twist the throttle at all ...
