Anyone got an idea what piston this might be - it's from my 16m 1951 engine

Not wishing to sound obvious but a +40 flat top, low compression piston.

Theres normally something stamped or cast on the inside to give a clue. I take it you want the makers name AE or Hepolite etc.

If it's a Hepolite there will be numbers cast inside. See link below.

Sorry for the delay in replying - Ive been busy rebuilding. In the end I used a probe camera and went underneath the piston to have a look 0 It is a +40 thou Hepelex 10465 Piston. I managed to get new rings from Cox and Turner and have rebuilt the top end - all good. Deglazed barrel and fitted new Hepolite Valves and lapped them in. Bike is running sweet so will be at the Jampot Rally now - albeit running it in!
