G3LS 1954 - CLUTCH PLATE PLAIN

Post by rudelan_LAPSED »

A friend goes back on his clutch on 350 GLS 1954.
At the time of putting back the plates plain steel, he notes that a plain steel plate is thicker than others. Is it normal and if so, where place it exactly? Thank you. Ruddy

Two possible answers. There were different thickness steel plates produced and this may just be one of those. Second answer early clutches had a special back plate which was very much thicker and was partially recessed. This went in first (with the recess facing towards the gearbox) so if there is one thick plate I would put it in first.
