Are you trying to install a genuine AMC oil seal or have you measured the OD, (incorrectly, if the seal you have fits into the slider extension), and ID and source a seal of those dimensions?

External OD of both seals are the same so are interchangeable. The bushings are the same only the ID's are different.

Thanks for all the advice.
Looks like I have been doing it wrong all this while. I was using the right ID but the wrong OD. The OD was such that it was a fit inside the fork slider.
I never thought about the Gap between the fiber bush and the slider.
