Can someone recommend an alternator regulator 12v for my 1958 Matchless, as the alternator is fitted in the cover I guess it needs to be the correct fit.
I have a 6v at the moment which is faulty and two of the wires are connected making it 12v also there is 12v bulbs fitted with a 6v battery 🙀
Happy to buy from club but am clueless which part no. is needed.

Do mean a stator and/or rotor?
Unless I'm mistaken ( I often am) that which you call the 'regulator' isn't fitted inside the primary drive/alternator cover.
If you've been running the alternator at 12v it won't have done much good to the 6v battery.

Re: Alternator regulator/rectifier
Sorry Mike, but I can't advise on the correct part number as I have only had personal experience of working on dynamo bikes.
Hopefully someone will be able to give details but it also occurs to me that the stator and rotor must be compatible with each other.
Club spares lists only one 6v and on 12v stator but I wouldn't assume that they fit all bike years although they may do.............

Re: Alternator regulator/rectifier
The stator that you want is
Lucas 47205 Stator. RM21 2 lead single phase 10 amp. Capable of delivering up to 30volts and current up to 20 amps at speeds of up to 10,000 RPM.
Amperes: 10
Single Phase: Yes
Three Phase:
No. of Leads: 2.
Typically available through club or e-bay at about £70 ( or that what I sell them for )
again you can buy alternative makes but I prefer the latest Lucas units
Regulator that replaces the rectifier and Zenor diode . I prefer the Podtronics unit
Wassell own unit about £29
Wassells soild state, single phase rectifier/regulator.
Podtronics solid state, single phase rectifier/regulator.
Replaces plate type rectifier and zenor diode, finned aluminium heat sink.
Can be used to convert 6V three lead stators to 12V electrics.
Earth (Pos/Neg): Both
Voltage: 12V,120W
Single Phase: Yes
Typically available through club or e-bay at about £55 ( or that what I sell them for )
Cheaper alternative available
