Excellent!
As it happens I helped a pal collect a 1951 project bike yesterday . Here's what the oil tank looks like. Your '53 should be the same (but without cigarette end that was inside it :roll: ).

Some Hampshire chaps do tend to be on the short side.
Probably descended from generations of submariners when only the short ones survived as they avoided constantly banging their heads on the ceiling.
