Rear wheel removal

Post by mikeydpippin »

Not sure if anyone else has had this problem....
Removing rear wheel took ages as the Cush rubbers were really tight and I had to use a gemmy bar between hub and brake cover to lever wheel out.
Rubbers are in good nick, just hope the wheel goes back ok.
It's the wheel where the rubbers fit over the pins.
Anyone else had this?..
The wheels on all my other G3,s came out easy.

Did you pull out the spindle, which will also then let the spacer come out, then try and pull the wheel out? Or did you replace the spindle, then rock the wheel to get it out? If I get a wheel that does not want to come off easy, this is what I do. The spindle will help the wheel stay vertical, not lean a bit and nip up. I do the same when replacing the wheel. Once the pins/wheel are in place, withdraw the spindle to fit the spacer.

Some are easy and others as you've found can be a bugger to shift especially if they've been in a long time. When replacing the wheel use rubber grease which should then allow easy removal next time.

Or is he trying to remove what appears to be a QD wheel, but is not Rob.

( Just in case you are wondering. I got a rear wheel puncture on my 650 CSR upon arrival at a rally. I was trying to get the full width QD wheel off its pins. Rob came up and said you won't get that off, its non QD. Well at least that proved I had the correct rear wheel. But was told I had the wrong front. )

Thanks Robs, left spindle out but next time I know what to do.
Changed tyre and wheel refitted ok, bit tight but better than too loose I guess.
Thanks again another one back on the road.
