Nice job Alan!
The fit of bearing inners can be tight on many armatures I find. A spin in t'lathe with emery on the shafts, or indeed the lightest of skims will sort them so the Large Hammer Solution can be avoided!
I reckon to have to have a 'look' at dynamos every so often too. Sometimes quite a hard look. Even with new bits etc, there is always the possibility of something untoward it seems; I guess Lucas weren't joking when they recommended 'servicing' every however many miles.
Nothing electrical is 'fit and forget for ever', or at least, 'forever' is a pretty flexible concept!
