AMAL 76AG/AU on G3LS
My Matchless G3LS 1955 is equipped with a AMAL 76AG /AU .. I think it is not the right one. The upper cap does not fit because the thread is worn on the carburettor. Which solution ?

According to the 1955 parts list a G3LS uses a 376 monobloc

mono bloc 376/5
I took the trouble to make an Excel file of all Amal carbs for all AJS also Matchless, from approx. 1933 onwards. So you can quickly discover the carb for your bike. LOOK IN TECH TIPS . I have not listed all the parts, as you should have a pars list for your bike. There are also files for Mags. & Dynamo's

Re: AMAL 76AG/AU on G3LS
I have to obtain a carburettor for my '54 G3/LS. According to the parts list it should be a remote float chamber 76AV/IED. They are prohibitively expensive from Burlen, being over £300 with postage and AMOC Spares don't seem to list them.
The '55 G3/LS uses a 376/5 Monobloc which is considerably cheaper from AMOC Spares.
Is there any physical reason why I shouldn't use the Monobloc on my '54? Are the flange and stud spacings the same?
Thanks
John
