Re: Teledraulic fork 1 1/8 or 1 1/4
Hi
Modern sockets are often slim enough to fit and if not can be slimmed down on a grinding wheel or with an angle grinder.
I bought this set which fitted without modification:

Re: Teledraulic fork 1 1/8 or 1 1/4
Many thanks! But...
I measured the head of the bolt: 1.34 cm
My measure:
1 inch = 2.54 cm
1/32 inch = 2.54: 32 = 0.079375
Then I find 1.34: 0.079375 = 16.881889 giving a key of 17/32 "
Not easy to find here ...
In the G3LS 1955 parts book, the bolt (010697 Bolt, fixing fork damper tube to slider 7/16 in) is given 7/16 and it is not good!

Part no. 010697, damper tube bolt. The bolt length is 7/16" but the the thread is 5/16" Cycle thread (26 tpi).
The correct socket for this bolt would be marked up as 1/4" Whit. and/or 5/16" BSF.
These sockets can be easily found on Ebay if you don't have a local supplier.
Try to get a thin socket as there's not too much clearance in the fork slider counterbore.

Hi
Check the link I provided - 1/4" Whit is 13.34mm across flats. Buy a set of Whitworth 3/8" drive sockets, (link also provided), - you won't regret it.
Regards Mick

Rudelan you are going to have to stop thinking in metric! The hole sizes and spanner sizes are a bit weird. Instead do as Mick says buy a set of whitworth sockets ( I have just bought a second set hopefully saving hours as I will no longer need to search for a socket I have put down somewhere but can wait instead until it just reappears!)clive wrote:The box spanner needs to be 1/4 whitworth for the bolt at the bottom of the forks..........
In fact buy a whitworth socket set
A whitworth open ended spanner set
And a set of BA spanners up to size OBA
You ought then to be able to do most jobs on the bike without difficulty.

Hi
Echo Clive's advice to buy a set of Whitworth spanners - I can thoroughly recommend these, (I now have two sets):

I bought exactly this set of spanners. They are made by Siegen which is part of Sealey - they are nice quality. I also find two sets of Whitworth spanners very useful. Cheers. Bruce.Mick D wrote:Hi

Thank you all for this tooling information. It's clearer in my head now.
If someone contacts me for the purchase of springs for my 1 1/4 " fork but i have not the original springs, I do not know the just measurements ... Someone give them to me Length, breadth and diameter (out, in) ?
In advance, thank you
