1956 shock absorber

Post by helpme1 »

Can anybody help?
I am a new member getting ready to get my 1956 16MS back on the road.
The original jam- pot rear shock absorbers are very tired and need restoring or replacing.
This is not a job i have done before.
Can anybody suggest where i can source the parts, and guidance on what to do.
Many thanks,
Dave Brett.
South Somerset.

Club spares can supply parts or off the shelf reconditioned items.

Club spares scheme both sells the parts to overhaul your Jampots and also has an exchange scheme if they are not damaged. Here are a few of the guides on how to do overhaul them.

John Bolton does an excellent job of rebuilding the Jampot shocks at a very reasonable price. I have had two sets of shocks rebuilt by John and am very pleased with the work done. To be honest I found it easier to get John to do the work as he has the various tools required, has a load of experience doing this work and is able to source new parts, if new parts are not available he can often source used parts for you.

John advertises in the back of the Jampot magazine, Workshop 14. Telephone 07802 - 740672.

I don't have any commercial interest with Workshop 14, but find John is a fine source of friendly technical help and good work at sensible prices.
His next job for me will be a re-spoke some wheels for one of my bikes. He did a good job on my sons 1954 machine.

Hi David, welcome to the club. You need to contact Eamonn, our webmaster because you have two usernames, one on the main website that shows you as a full member and a different one on the forums that doesn't. You need to get this sorted or you will be restricted to only three months' posting on the forum and you will be unable to see the members' only parts.
