Ok good point but that's what we are here to do. We could give it a try if we can get the Samples.

Agreed that is what we're here to do, but it gets depressing getting the job done and then being dumped by the members we're trying to help. You know as well as I do just how difficult it is to find companies willing to produce small batch items. It also takes up a considerable amount of time, and for a working man like me it's difficult.
If however as has been mentioned before, members could take on projects such as this, then we at the parts service would be more than willing to read/listen to the proposal with the view to bankrolling them.

A bit of an old story
I commissioned 4 off AJS H4 350 pistons , as I could not find any . One sold , one for me and 2 till in stock (+0.040 and +0.020)
Expensive yes , but what good is a bike laid up and not running ?

Try contacting Venoilia in the US , I found that Omega were slow and want a bigger order

Of course , the real answer is Hepolite , made by JCC who have the drawings , but you need to order 1000 and that's not going to happen

As far as samples go , if you find a new piston . get is measured and drawn up then you can get a better quote done

ajscomboman – Re “the 600/650 piston rings would fit the earlier 350 short stroke with modification as they're 72mm”

For a standard piston, would the rings listed as AMOC part number “900036/S PISTON RINGS; 650 /600 STD” be the correct rings to do this, and what is the modification required?

Also do you have you any more detailed information on how to modify a flat top 60 on high comp piston to fit the 350cc and the parts required to do it? – this could be of great help to all 72mm/350 short stroke owners who live in fear of having to replace broken rings or piston.

For any info regarding short strokes and modifications the best thing to do is talk directly to the specialist. Ken De Groome is your man, what he doesn't know about comp singles and short strokes isn't worth knowing, the man is a genius.

I have laid up my AJS 350 short stroke because of this reason, of all the bikes I have, twin or single this is the nicest bike to ride, so I tend to push it a bit............... it's so enjoyable.

I have been looking for four years, autojumbles evilbay etc......... nothing found yet

I'd agree Colin, the 350 short stroke is a little cracker. Not as much umphh as my G80CS but it's just a hoot to ride.

I've an original piston but because they're so rare Ken altered the small end bush and a flat top twin piston which I can then use to copy as and when it needs a rebore.

Hi all,
To resurect this thread, It might be worth noting that JP Pistons in Australia manufacture correct pistons for the '56-'59 G80CS as well as the long strokes. They are reasonably priced at $200 AUD. I'm not sure if they have the 350 short stroke pistons, but wouldn't surprise me.
