a) Generally no - optional extra
b) Don't know, but it fits behind cover plate between toolbox/battery housing and the oil tank.
c) Yes to main jet, no to needle.[:o)][:o)]

In my teens we would'nt be seen dead with an air cleaner/filter, an illogical attitude, alas still with me 50 years later, even the cleaner come choke on my Bantam was an object of shame!!!![:I][V][:(]

An air cleaner will prolong the engine life considerably. I am sure that I have seen G3s fitted with a Triumph type filter (ie pancake type). Surrey cycles would advise re jets. Always better to run a little rich than too weak if there is a choice.

If you put the pancake type on you need to reduce the main jet by one size. If it comes off don't forget to rejet!
I didn't and one hole in the piston later[:(] I learnt my lesson[:D]

An air cleaner is a very good idea. But as you say it was optional, that means that it is impossible to get.
To make mine look a bit like the original I bought a filter element from a YAMAHA RD400 yes YAMAHA!! part no.1AO-14451-01.
I made two plates to close it and fitted it behind the plate under the seat. Then I connected the carb. to the new filter box with a hose and changed the main jet in the carb.
See you all in Denmark in May!
