G5 - Monobloc setup
If you're having carb problems, look at it on a bench and check for wear, sloppy parts, poor jets. Double check with an air line if available (Wearing suitable safety glasses etc) that all holes and jet ways are clear. Check the two manifold nuts haven't been over tightened as this can warp the carb body causing air leaks & so poor running
The standard set up was a 389/42 with an 1" 1/8th
bore size..
Main Jet is a 220, The slide was booked as a 3
The pilot jet was a 25
The needle jet was a .106
The needle was in the central position
To check correct idle mixture, run the engine until warm (Not Hot) With the throttle nearly closed and the air slide fullly open it should run evenly & slowly
(Check plug & Points for clean & Gap)
Should you want to adjust to get a good tickover
Adjust the air screw which is not that sensitive until a clean tick over is obtained, once done set throttle stop screw to get desired tick over speed
