1961 350 Is 50 psi compression too low

Update, the head bolts needed a turn and a quarter to get the torque settings as mentioned above it started a lot better, had it running with the tappet cover off to check for oil feed all ok but a bit too quiet, so I let it cool down a bit then adjusted the tappets so the push rods just turned.Then the next thing bit me throttle sticking open spent 1 hour smoothing a
rough area in the carb body so now runs better than it has. I'm a little surprised at how loud it is now it is revving cleanly. Does anyone on here know Geoff Clayson ?
