Points Backplate

Post by Martin.S »

In Simon Hoskins article in the April 2020 Jampot magazine on Electronic Ignition for the lightweights he states that his points back plate measures 2+7/8" in diameter.
The rebate in my casting that the backplate fits into measures 3" - did they change things in this department?

Not that I'm aware of. It's a 3" recess on mine.

When I fitted my electronic ignition, I had to remove about 0.5mm from the Boyer Bransden circuit board to get it to fit.

I fitted the Boyer-Bransden kit today with the help of the above link which made things much easier!!!
Can confirm my back plate is 3 inch and I also had to trim a bit off the Boyer-Bransden plate.
Great kit, simple to fit and great service from Boyer-Bransden.

Just had a look on the Boyer website and Stator STA00156 is listed for the AJS/Matchless but it does state that it's diameter is 77mm that's 31 thou over 3inches.
