Gearbox Parts
I have now two gearboxes - most of the gears are breaking down on the case hardening where the contact points are wearing through but I have two questions for you :-
Is one of these ground spacers the later fitment that fits under the new circlip on the Kick start shaft?
and one of these gear change shafts has no hole for the indicator shaft - what's this off? :-

Re: Gearbox Parts
The spacer looks like the machined spacer that sits behind the kickstart pawl (041301). It could possibly be the later modification that sits the other side (no p/n), but both of the ones I have here are dished steel washers, rather than a machined spacer.
I don't know about the “blanked off†gearchange shaft. All AMC Lightweights have a gear indicator. Maybe Norton Lightweight?

Re: Gearbox Parts
Ah - if these are that spacer then where does that horrible tin washer with the same inner diameter go?

Re: Gearbox Parts
I think the horrible tin washer is the “modificationâ€. At least that's how I put my gearbox together....

Yes, that's part number 041301. The horrible tin washer is 042091 (apparently).

I have three boxes (2 for spares just in case) and none of my gears show any signs of wear?? maybe previous owners failed to keep them full of oil?Martin.S wrote:I have now two gearboxes - most of the gears are breaking down on the case hardening where the contact points are wearing through but I have two questions for you :-

Cheers, didn't read the thread fully as now I see you had already mentioned it. Getting a bit rusty as I haven't had to do any work on my bike or a few years nowclanger9 wrote:Yes, that's part number 041301. The horrible tin washer is 042091 (apparently).

Ha! I guess that's one way to cure the oil dribble...
