Thank to you all for your replies. I now have footrests thanks to Clanger9. I also have the dimensions of the head stem (thank you oldandsmelly) so I can turn one up on my lathe. I'm going to turn up some "cups" to take taper roller bearings. that will get over the that problem. I'll let you know how it works out.

Hi Gazza, how did the fitting taper roller bearing and all that go?

Only just got around to getting the bike on the bench, bought some taper roller bearings and have turned up cups to fit the headstock, just got to turn a washered bush to fit to the bottom yolk, and then the head stem, should work out OK. I'll post some pictures when I get them done.
