Continuous operation? is that for new vehicles or old stuff like ours? I have a mate with an old Raleigh (the motorcycle not the push bike) that came with a bulb horn are you suggesting he now has to fit an electric device? bearing in mind the bike is fitted with acetelyne lighting so has no electrics. I do wish MOT stations would all sing from the same hymn sheet.

My rims and spokes arrived today and so I made a start lacing them up.........

Image

The lumps of wood give me roughly the offset I need, so lightly tighten all the nipples then mount the wheel in my fixture for truing up

Image

I true up the side first to within a .040, then true up the diameter to .020

Image

Then back to side, true it to .010 to .015, and true the diameter the same, ignore the readings around the weld. Check the offset and adjust to suit and recheck the wheel is running true, do a ring check on all the spokes to ensure all are of even tightness, a dull ring is a loose spoke.

I'm not sure if this the correct way but it works for me.

Well done. The dial gauge is neat, I just use a pointer clamped on my wooden jig, the right process all the same. Aren't new wheels nice

Just another update...............wheels are on and I obtained a chainguard, two infact and the correct tank, chainguard will be on by next week but the tank will keep until the winter, the tank thats on there will do for now. I had a good run around the fields goes well but its geared for road use, I may change it I may not, I am thinking of angling the silencer upwards, thoughts anyone?

Hello Collin,
I see by your post on Friday 20th you have two chainguards. If the odd one is surplus to
your requirements would you consider selling it to me. Would you let me know and give me your
price please. You could ring me on 01708 701674.
Kind Regards
Ray Bowman.
